The Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center aims to provide a common place for all Nepali Hindus and Buddhists and other nationalities of these faiths to congregate culturally, spiritually and religiously. The Center encourages community members to strengthen social and religious harmony between different faiths of Nepal, and pray and worship the god in accordance with their faith; promote and preserve Nepali cultural heritage; and promote Nepali cultural values. The immediate goal of NCSC is to build and maintain Hindu/Buddhist Cultural and Spiritual Center (a joint project of Pashupati-Buddha Temple, and Community Hall), around DFW Metro.

June 9, 07

 Nepalese Society of Texas, Dallas organized a public meeting at Irving, Hindu temple to discuss a proposal of building a Nepali cultural center (an idea/project of constructing of a cultural center, Hindu temple, and Buddhist temple under one umbrella).

The meeting concluded with forming an “ad hoc committee' to take the proposed project further. During the public meeting, nine (9) members were selected and were assigned the following responsibilities:

 Formation of a complete ad hoc secretariat (consisting of at least 21 members)

  • Formation of by-laws for the proposed Nepali cultural center
  • Opening of a DBA (a separate bank account) for the Nepali Cultural Center
  • Formation of various sub-committees to promote/encourage involvement of all members of the Nepali communities the DFW area
  • Generating ideas for fundraising

  July 21, 07  

  • The ad hoc committee of the cultural center expanded to a 19 member ad hoc committee adding 10 new members
  • The meeting of the Ad Hoc Committee decided to expand the existing Ad Hoc Committee by inviting all interested members of Nepalese community. In effect, given the need of the substantial financial resources required to successfully execute this particular project, all new members interested in joining the Ad Hoc Committee are required to select one of the two membership options listed below.
  • Option One: Honorary Membership – Minimum donation of $10,000.00  
  • Option Two: Lifetime Membership – Minimum donation of $5000.00

 July 21- August 24, 07 

 A 5 member by-laws committee was formed to write/develop the by-laws of the Cultural Center. The committee forwarded by-laws to the Ad hoc committee for discussion and endorsement. A formal name of “Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center” was proposed.

 Major Points of the By Laws  

  • Name: The Name of the organization shall be Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center
  • Mission: This Center is established to provide a common place for all Nepali Hindus and Buddhists and other nationalities of these faiths to congregate culturally, spiritually and religiously, to pray in accordance with their faith, to promote and preserve Nepali cultural heritage, to strengthen social and religious harmony between different faiths of Nepal, and to practice and promote Nepali cultural values.  
  • Objective: To build and maintain Hindu/Buddhist Cultural and Spiritual Center (a joint project of Pashupati Temple, Buddha, Temple, and Community Hall), around DFW Metro.

 Membership:

 Types of membership and fees:

  • Annual Member - $ 51 - $499
  • General Member $500- $999
  • Active Member - $1000- $2 499
  • Life Member - $2,500- $4,999
  • General Benefactor - $5000-$9,999
  • Benefactor - $10,000- $19,999
  • Grand Benefactor - $20,000-$29,999
  • Patron Member - $30,000- $49,999
  • Grand Patron - $50,000 or more
  • Out of state residents shall be granted life membership at a fee of $500 or more and all other membership at half of regular fees.

 Remarks: The meeting of the Interim Committee of the NCSC (Nov 17, 2007) decided to assign “Founding Memberships” to all members who donate $2500 or more within 25 installments in 2 years). It means all members of categories (D, E, F. G, H, I) will become the “Founding Member” of the NCSC (by default). 

  August 25, 07  

  • The meeting of the ad hoc committee has passed the by-laws of the Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center .
  • The meeting has decided to form an "interim committee" to give continuous support to the project until the date of the inauguration of the center, a day when new by-laws will formally be in effect
  • The existing "ad hoc committee" has been transformed to "interim committee" by including the existing and alternative members of the ad hoc committee
  • Realizing the necessity of substantial financial resources to execute the project, all members of the "interim committee" agreed to make a minimum monetary donation of $2500 (or more) to the center
  • The meeting has further decided to welcome all members of the Nepali Community living in the DFW areas in the "interim committee" given he/she agrees to make minimum financial contribution of $2500 ( in 3 installments within 2 years).
  • The meeting has also agreed to start a formal process of registration of the proposed Center with the state secretary of Texas ASAP.

 August 30, 07  

 The Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center has formally been registered with the Texas Secretary of State as a non-profit organization.

 Sept 8, 07   

  • The meeting of the Interim Committee of the NCSC decided to assign “Founding Memberships” to all members of the Interim Committee of the NCSC.
  • The meeting further decided to equally give this rare opportunity of becoming “Founding Members” of the NCSC to all members of the Nepali community by inviting them to join the interim committee of NCSC before October 30, 2007.
  • The names of the Founding Members (both husband and wife) will be permanently engraved on the Donor Wall of the center.

  • The meeting has decided to invite all members of the Nepalese Community living in the DFW area to join the "interim committee (or to become the Founding Members of the NCSC)" if he/she agrees to make a minimum financial contribution of $2500 (25 installments within 2 years) before December 30, 2007
  • Pledging of Donation Starts

  • The meeting has decided to form 20 area committees to promote the participation of the community member
  • 8 different committies have been formed to facilitate the smooth functioning of the NCSC

 January, 08 

A joint meeting of NST and NSCS defined and outlined NST and NSCS relationship as a supportive (but independent) . Agreed points 

  • Two members of NST will automatically be the members of Board of Trustees of NCSC
  • In the case of closure of NSCS, all properties of NCSC go to NST
  • A auditing committee comprising of NST members will be formed to monitor/examine the financial situation (income/expenses) of NCSC
  • Signature of NST treasure will be included/validated in NSCS check book
  • NCSC allocates four coordinator positions to NST members

Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has granted 501 (c) 3 status (Tax Exempt Organization) to Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center (NCSC). 

NCSC would be tax deductable as explained under section 170 of the IRS code.

Jan-Dec, 09 

  • NCSC power point presentation to city of euless
  • In Jan-December NCSC works to get SUP (Special Use Permit) from the city of Euless needed to build temples and cultural halls. NSCS has multiple meetings with the city of Euless officials to discuss the proposed plans. NCSC volunteers worked hard to complete all engineering works and other paper works needed to get SUP. Jan, 10 

  • NCSC gets special permit – congratulations and thanks to all
  • NCSC received a special use permit to construct a community center, a Pashupati temple and a Buddhist monastery in the city of Euless.
  • Nearly 150 community members showed up in the final hearing to express their solidarity for this beautiful community project.

 March, 10 

  • NCSC purchases 4 acres of land: A Historic Achievement for DFW Nepali
  • Successfully purchased 4 acre land, as a first step towards creating a beautiful DFW Nepali community. Signed all needed documents in a public ceremony and mailed cashier check of $261,033 to the title company.
  • Final Land Closing and closing documents.
  • Title company that confirms that the final amount we need for the land (after adjusting our previous deposit, taxes, closing costs, and various fees) is $261,033.   
  • Title of the Land has arrived
  • Title of the NCSC land has arrived showing "NEPALI CULTURE AND SPRITUAL CENTER" as the owner of the land.

 April, 10 

  • NCSC Updates: A new decision for further fund raising
  • NCSC initiates a new membership criteria "Sanrachhak Sadasya" as a effort to raise fund and/or sustain NCSC project.
  • Sanrachhak Sadasya refers to a person or member who gives a ANNUAL donation commitment of at least $300 or more to the NCSC project. The basic idea of this membership is to give minimum load possible to our community members or to collect small sum of money from a large number community members to sustain the NCSC project.
  • Pundit Deen Bandhu Pokherel's Program
  • NCSC organizes a spiritual discourse program on April 10, 2010 at DFW Hindu temple. In this great event, extraordinary orator and spiritual speaker Pundit Deen Bandhu Pokhrel delivered spiritual discourse program and recitation of Bhagawata Purana. The program comprised of Bhajan, prabachan, and other spiritual activities.

May, 10 

  • Sincere thanks for Bhutanese Nepali Community
  • NCSC received a combined donation of $668 from the 35 members of Bhutanese Nepali families as a token of love and support for NCSC's temples and cultural hall projects.

  • NCSC organizes Summer Camp 2010
  • Nepalese Society of Texas (NST)/ Nepali language and cultural school (NLCS) and Nepali Cultural and Spiritual Center (NCSC) jointly organized a 14-day Intensive Summer Program to teach Nepali culture, values, and spirituality to our children.

Jul-Sep, 10 

  • NCSC searches for possible source of mortgage.
  • Building 2 temples and a community hall or completing NCSC project costs a large sum of money. Therefore, NCSC contacted many banks, personal investors, developed financial reports etc needed to get bank loan.

Jan, 11 

  • NCSC starts annual fund raising drive 2011.
  • Since last 3 years, NCSC has been trying to build our community hall and temples in DFW. This great project was started to unite our community members, to teach our values/moral education to our children, to preserve our culture/religion and ultimately to create a beautiful and prosperous DFW Nepal community.
  • In the last 3 years, NCSC made a substantial progress in this endeavor. Now, we have land, permit, possible mortgage source, loan guarantors, and design etc. Now, NCSC needs to start the construction work ASAP. We feel it is possible to start the construction work THIS YEAR, if at least 300 families of our community contribute $1 per day (or $365 a year) or at least $300 per year. In Jan 2011, NCSC starts annual membership drive.

 Mar, 11 

  • NCSC collects $20,000
  •  41 community members pledged more than $300 per year and donates nearly $20,000. NCSC welcomes 9 new founding members and express sincere thanks to all donors
